"Senior Britishers play Soccer in Chitral"
Senior British players and members of British veterans Racing club of Blackheath played a soccer match against Ayun XI in Chitral. Members of the club were on a visit to Pakistan who played their first match against senior players of the Pakistan Sports Board in Islamabad. Aged between 40 & 45, the team members have so far visited 21 countries playing soccer matches against senior players in different part of the world over the past few years.
The Chitral match was a spectacular one. It was second team of British players visiting Chitral since 2003. The British veterans club, playing under the captaincy of Simon Parry, played well against the host team. Ayun X1 with its captain Maqsood ul Mulk, took good advantage of the home ground and won the match by 2-1.
The running commentary on the match added more fun & colour to the game where the crowd was sent roaring with laughter as the visitors made the local team dance around with their skillful display of ball control. During half time there was donkey Polo , the veterans of the donkey polo team on receiving their gifts requested to be invited to England some day. At the end of the game the Racing club gave donations for the Chitral team to visit Islamabad and play exhibitions matches... This was the 21st country the club visited and hopefully there will be an article out in the English press to promote Chitral as a friendly tourist destination..
Speaking on the occasion Simon Parry appreciated the skills and sport men sprit of the Chitrali players. Chief Guest was the oldest soccer player in the District Subedar Mehboob Alam Khan who thanked the visiting British team for selecting Chitral as it destination and hoped that both the teams will play more friendly matches in future.
